Beginning Of The End

In my last blog, I went over my new idea of the direction I wanted to take this project in, as well as my new storyboard.

Critiques

I took my idea in for reviews, and good news: everyone loved it! They all really like the ideas and the story that the short is telling. However, they are all in agreement with my previous assessment. The scope of the project is far too large for how much time I have left. My professor told me that I had to find a way to tell the same story in far fewer shots. They also suggested getting rid of camera movement entirely, so that I wouldn't have to build a full 3D environment and could get away with just using a backplate.

The Great Revision (Reprise)

So taking those critiques, I have formulated a new storyboard. This time as an animatic!

So the new idea is to have the sake swirl around the same area, following something that represents each season. While it is swirling around, the entire environment will change, each one representing a new season and ending in a similar shot, with the sake filling up a Kubota bottle. I think this idea is more in the realm of possibilities. I even went ahead and rendered out each environment already.

So that is the game plan now. Will I end up completing the project in time? Only time will tell.
